Visual artist, curator, art consultant
As a former Program Councilor Visual Arts Zuidas, freelance curator, initiator and organizer of art projects, exhibitions, presentations, publications and symposia for among others the Virtueel Museum Zuidas, Meinke Horn has gained broad work experience over the past twenty years and built up a large network within the visual arts, applied arts, design and art in public space.
Meinke Horn has collaborated with national and international artists of various disciplines, with designers, architects, scientists, philosophers, photographers, writers and with various institutions, acting alternately as supporting, initiating, executing and advising.
In addition, Meinke Horn is an independent consultant for wall art, including for the Stadscuratorium Amsterdam. Commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam, she advises and supervises the relocation of two sgraffito’s by Lex Horn, whose work belongs to the top of the post-war Dutch heritage, at the Entrance to Amsterdam Central Station.
In 2016 she founded the Lex Horn Foundation to safeguard and conserve the remaining monumental work of Lex Horn and to showcase his extensive oeuvre.
Meinke Horn also works as a freelance tour guide for art institutions and private individuals, such as the Kunstfort near Vijfhuizen and previously at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
Meinke Horn studied painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After graduating she participated in various exhibitions, gave lectures, presentations and was a guest teacher several times. In 2006 she set up the artist platform puntWG for atelierWG, where her studio is located.
In 2018/2019 Meinke Horn was seriously ill. Since she was declared healthy at the end of 2019, she has started to focus more on het own art. See gallery.
